  1. I did exactly as the instructions indicated and it worked! I was getting so frustrated with the automated system and was beginning to think I would never be able to reach a live person. Thanks for helping us innocent victims out.

  2. Thank you sooo much for the information. I am a single mother and my heart stopped when Ia saw the charges When I made the call to the listed number God took over and talked nicely for me because I was ready to cuss someone out!! But i guess the saying "you catch more bees with honey" rings true. Thank you.

  3. Same happy outcome for me! I chatted pleasantly with a very nice, accommodating gentleman. This just happened so the charge on my bank account hasn't had time to be refunded yet, but the good results you've all had leaves me hopeful everything will work out just fine for me in the end. Thanks!

  4. Thanks for the information. The customer service representatives at TWX Mag were very helpful and I was credited my money, too.

Also note that they have a website: https://www.magcustomerservice.com/

  5. Thank you! Haven't received a refund yet, but I'm hopeful. The service rep enticed me with lots of other special promos, but I turned them down. No way I'm trusting this organization again.

I'm always impressed when someone takes the time to post information, and does so in such a concise and interesting way.

I was charged $37 in June for Popular Mechanics and now $57 for Entertainment Weekly. I had responded immediately to post cards, and requesed cancellation. I was told it was too soon to cancel the subscription, but they would do so when it ran out. Well, guess what... they didn't.... they just charged my account.

I followed your advice, keeping civility in mind, and was able to cancel. Finally! I was, however, offered a deal to continue for $5.69.... instead of $57. The Rep I spoke with was very nice though, and took care of the problem.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this info.

  8. THANK YOU! I noticed this charge a while back and didnt think much of it, I was doing a lot of shopping and figured eh I forgot something that I bought something, but low and behold today im checking my account and there is a 13.50 charge and I know for a fact everything I spent money on that day.I called the number you posted, they said they will refund my money in one or two day and cancel the magazine People.style watch(curse you F.Y.E.-this is where I got the offer)So we will see where this gets me =]

  9. I found several charges buried in my Annual Summary from American Express. I did exactly as you were told, ignoring the voice that kept trying to steer me away from an Operator. Within 5 minutes -- mostly new offers meant to be seductive -- I got everything cancelled. The refund was somewhat ambiguous, but I didn't care. I just wanted out from under the invisible billing, and the stacks of magazines in my bathroom. Thanks again! Bob

  10. Yes this company is a sacam for real. They also do it at Books A Millions. The clerk does not tell you that after the 3 months you will be charged if you don't call TWX to cancel.First of all if a customer does not feel out any infor regarding the 3 months suscription they would automatically assume that hay it must be free because I have not signed any written authorization for another company to receive or be given my credit card infor. If I would have I would have said NO I do not want any magazines. This company has made a killing off of me because since the change in the economy I have just started checking my bank statements to see where my funds are going, and amazingly this company that I have know Idea of have been taking my money. So I would advise if you don't check your bank statements start now because you just may be getting taken advantage of by a company like this.

  13. I was very nervous because I have never called a company with an options system before and thought the people would be difficult. I just called and spoke with an incredibly nice girl named Carolyn. She tried to offer me refunds that I could have and still get the magazine for two more months free, but I was adamant that I just wanted the magazines to stop. I didn't mind not getting the money back, but I'm still getting a percentage, so that's good. I'm just glad they're stopped now. I was offered a free subscription from FYE and I thought it would be nice for my parents to get Entertainment Weekly and People. What pissed me off the most was that, as soon as I got out of the store and read the receit, it said: "FREE SUBSCRIPTION - .01" That was just like spitting in my eye! That fact that you're offering "free" and it costs one cent is infuriating. Still, I'm glad I found this blog and that your information was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much!

  14. Thank you so much.... I called the number u listed they said they would take care of it.....my husband had been tricked in thinking that they had to have his credit card info ( which had been already cancelled) to cancel them again. Then the nightmare started. I have had to cancel two times already. Thank you for putting this on the net.

  19. Thanks for the good information. I used the automated responses for "Cancel Options" and received a reference number in case anything goes awry. The drawback with the automated system is that you can only cancel one magazine at a time (I had 4), so it took me about 15 minutes to go through all of them. (You don't have to hang up, just wait for each to be cancelled before moving on to the next publication.) If I have it to do over again, I might go the "0" method, despite their announcement that there was a longer wait than the automated system. That might have just been a way for them to steer customers to their preferred system.

  20. Wow! Great to find help like this! Just checked my bank account today, and what to my wandering eyes should appear? $30.00 from my checking account disappeared! I will definitely take this advice and call them in the morning.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all posters!

  21. Thank you very much for writing this. I was having trouble getting through (kept getting caught in the automated system until I read this blog). The customer service was very nice and helped me cancel but I have two words to say about this experience: NEVER AGAIN!

Thanks again posting this much needed information.

    Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

  23. LIFE SAVER!!!!! All of this worked perfectly and quickly, albeit the "MaryAnn" on the other spoke in a very think accent so I had to repeat "No thank you" about 100 times before she would stop selling me. They're just doing their job...

Anyway, please know how many people you have helped and money you have saved all of us. Many good thoughts to you since there is no way to repay you!

  25. Thanks a million, Jerry. I did exactly what you said as soon as my wife spotted the unattractive subscription charges on the bank statement we just got, I called TWX and talked to "Jerry" (pushing the 0 to not waste time with the robo answerers), and tho Jerry tried to talk me into a "reasonable" deal with my 4 magazines, I said I was too burned already, especially by my wife, I was very nice as you suggeted and so was Jerry and said he cancelled by subscription and was sending me a refund on the 4 mags. 26. The last business I had with TWX was on 1-11-2010, and I paid $20.00 for a subscription to Time Magazine. That was until today, they charged my debit card $1.00. I called my bank and asked what the hell the charge was for, they replied that it was a magazine subscription from TWX. They also suggested that I close my old debit card, and they would issue a new card in 2-5 days. I said, "OK." I then researched my bank statements and found my last transaction from January, 2010; and found the following phone number 800-330-0378. I called that number and spoke to a Marco (no last name provided, I asked for an I.D. which was given as the letters PDE. He assured that the charges came from an on line order placed by someone on my behalf. He also assured me that the $1.00 charge would be reversed.

You are very correct, I shred all magazine renewal requests without opening them. I remember a recent envelope I shredded. My error....

Then I found your site on the internet, along with your suggestions. I should have checked the internet first. Thanks for your help.

Now let's talk about Good Housekeeping and their scam for money by sending out "collections department" renewal notices and threating severe implications for non compliance.

  27. Nice to see someone sharing info on these bozos. I don't even remember the original subscription, but I got a renewal charge ($32) for some magazine on my CC yesterday.

Once I researched what the magazine was, I still don't remember subscribing, though I DO get and enjoy the magazine. Perhaps my wife subscribed for me.

Anyway, the funny part is when I found out what magazine it was, I went to their website, and the same 6 issues subscription direct from the publisher is only $12!!! I immediately cancelled the TWX subscription. We'll see if I get a refund...

    May TWX rot in hell.

  28. Thank you soooo much! I did exactly as you said, after trying it the other way which was a bad idea, and it worked perfectly. Thanks again! I would have been lost without your advice. Your are a great person to share this advice to all victims of TWX.

  29. Thank you! I needed the number to finish getting the rest of the money that they'd gotten out of me... I cancelled all 4 magazines, but only gotten refunded for one. Scamming big time!

  30. Thank you so much! I called and wasn't even given then options for entering the 0's but i had to hit 0 three times and it put me through to an assistant. they tried to offer me more subscriptions for about 6 minutes and I had to keep telling him I just wanted to cancel all subscriptions but he finally cancelled all 3 and refunded the 2 that were charged already. So we'll see if I get my money back! thanks again!
